       Emory's Visiting Scholars
Emory's Neurosurgery department has had the honor of hosting a variety of distinguished guests from around the globe.

Our Visiting Scholars:
Dr. Alexander Bouras

Dr. Bouras visited the Department of Neurosurgery at Emory for a one-month rotation in his Residency from mid-October to mid-November of 2007. A 2002 graduate of the University of Athens, he practiced as a medical officer in the Greek Army and then as a Resident in General Surgery at Metaxa Cancer Hospital of Piraeus and as a resident in Neurosurgery at Tzanio General Hospital in Piraeus. Dr. Bouras's primary areas of interest include cerebrovascular, brain tumor and pituitary surgery.
Dr. Yulun Xu

Dr. Xu is a clinical professor of neurosurgery at Tiantan Hospital at Capital University of Medical Sciences. He has authored more than 50 scientific articles and chapters and two major textbooks of neurosurgery. Dr. Xu obtained a patent on stereotactic systems and stereotaxic instruments. During his career in neurosurgery, he has won many awards, including Outstanding PhD Dissertation at the Capital University of Medical Sciences in 2003 and the Award of National Science and Technique in China in 2005. Dr. Xu's research interests focus on basic study of cerebrovascular disease and epilepsy.

Dr. Gadea was a visiting professor from Costa Rica, offing a fascinating talk on clinoidal area aneurysms.
Dr. David Limbrick

Pediatric Neurosurgeon
Washington University, St. Louis.

Dr. Limbrick gave an enlightening talk entitled "Phosphodiesterase Type 4 Drives Brain Tumor Growth In Vivo."
