CLH Rotation
Back to Program Structure
Crawford
Long Rotation (Six months)
The previously mentioned responsibilities of the PGY 2 and PGY 3
residents are applied to the resident at Crawford Long. This also
is a single resident rotation wherein the resident begins to develop
skills in the management of their own service and to develop their
communication skills with the attending staff.
The resident will have the opportunity to attend outpatient clinics
and to develop a broad and deep experience of patients who primarily
have spinal column and spinal cord diseases.
This is not a Chief resident rotation and the resident is not expected
to function as a Chief resident; however, at the mid level of training,
the resident should be proficient in evaluation and management of
patients with basic neurosurgical disease and the interpretation
of diagnostic tests and management of intensive care patients. Furthermore,
the resident will develop significant experience during this rotation
in the management of patients with spinal disorders.
